ninri place is a concept store based in Melbourne, devoted to bringing quiet delight into the everyday.

At ninri place, we present a curated collection of ballet flats from Taiwan, traditionally known as hsiu-hua-hsieh (繡花鞋) — embroidered flower shoes. Working closely with local shoemakers, we reinterpret this heritage craft for modern wear, presenting the traditional silhouette as refined ballet flats designed for contemporary life. These shoes were particularly popular in the 1950s-70s in Taiwan, worn by opera performers as well as fashionable ladies who paired them with a nice Cheongsam or Qipao.

Our products are sourced directly from a long-standing studio in Tainan City, the former capital of Taiwan, known for its historical buildings and rich culture. It is also our founder's hometown. By sharing this craft beyond Taiwan, we hope to honour its history while supporting the artisans who continue to keep it alive.
